Sonic Mania – the fastest game hero returns!

There are few heroes, which became real legends of the game industry! They are like pillars that support modern game culture! They are like bright stars… oh, you got the point… We talk about such guys as Mario, Crash Bandicoot, and Sonic. 

The last one, the blue hedgehog, has attracted attention of gamers one more time. The newest game with Sonic has been released for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and for PC. Sonic Mania is a present for the 25th anniversary of the Sonic game series. 

So, let’s figure out if it is a nice enough adventure for such a cool hero, the fastest guy of game virtuality (yep, he runs at supersonic speeds, that’s why he is Sonic)!

The great classic in modern shapes

Sonic Mania is not an absolutely new game. In fact, this is a kind of re-make or re-mix of the original Sonic games, made for old consoles (Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) and Sega CD). Players will find here elements of storylines and gameplay from the Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, and 3, from Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD. 

But this is not a bad feature at all! Those games are really amazing and are totally worth of adapting for modern game devices! In Sonic Mania, we can enjoy the world of Sonic in its best so far version – all the locations are very colourful and just beautiful. 

What is that Eggman up to?

As usual with Sonic, the bad guy in the Sonic Mania game is the evil doctor Robotnik, known also as Eggman (does he likes eggs or what?). And also as usual with Sonic, there is a fantastic story behind the adventures, connected with saving the world from destroying, with mystical artifacts, fantastic robots, and amazing super powers of hedgehogs, foxes, and echidnas. 

The story of Sonic Mania is quite thrilling, made in specific anime style! Do you really want to know the plot? It is better to discover all the details in the game! We can tell only that Eggman should be stopped. And Sonic with his friends Tails and Knuckles can do this.

Run! Jump! Fly! Climb! And collect rings on the way…

With Sonic Mania, gamers got a classic side-scrolling platformer. Heroes move to the end of 12 levels (named zones here and divided into acts), battle enemies (to save cute animals trapped in evil mechanisms of Robotnik), avoid traps and obstacles, fight against the evil boss, who is Eggman himself.

Three heroes have different abilities: Sonic perform his famous «drop dash» (rolling in jumps), Tails flies and swims, and Knuckles climbs vertical obstacles and glide from heights. Choose who you like more! Or play with a friend in two players mode to use powers of two heroes.

Rings are precious items in the game. If a hero has even one, nothing can harm him. But it is easy to loose rings, that’s why players should collect them all the time. Even more precious artifacts are Chaos Emeralds. They can be obtained only in special stages. And only after collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds players can open the best ending of the game. 

The game has lots of unique features, and there are lots of exciting things to discover in Sonic Mania!
